Methodology

How the Library Works

A breakdown of how we track, measure, and present plant growth.

Real tracking, not theory

Most plant advice is prescriptive: “Water every week and give bright indirect light.” Our methodology is entirely descriptive. We simply collect the specific environment and care schedule a grower used, and then show you exactly what the plant looked like as a result. No guesswork, just documented evidence.

The Core Variables

Every diary entry asks for the same standardized data points. By unifying how growers report their Light, Watering, Humidity, Soil, and Fertilizer, it becomes possible to directly compare different setups and see why one plant is thriving while another isn't.

Seasonal Context

A plant's environment in December is rarely the same as it was in June. Our submission process is designed to capture these seasonal shifts. When you read a diary, pay attention to how the grower adapts their watering habits or moves the plant to a different window when winter hits.

Visual Timelines

Text is helpful, but pictures prove it. A core part of our methodology is visual tracking over time. By looking through the photo history embedded in a Plant Diary, you can trace a plant's literal evolution rather than just taking someone's word for it.
